Oregon Scientific was established in 1989 in Portland, Oregon, USA. The brand became a pioneer in the 'Smart Living' category, gaining global recognition for its innovative consumer electronics, particularly its radio-controlled clocks and home weather stations that integrated atomic timekeeping with environmental sensors.
In 1997, Oregon Scientific was acquired by IDT International Limited (Integrated Display Technology), a multinational company headquartered in Hong Kong. Following this acquisition, the brand’s manufacturing operations were primarily transitioned to China to leverage the region's large-scale electronic production capabilities. While the brand was originally American, its design and technical development evolved into a collaboration between its US roots and European design influences under the ownership of the IDT Group. In recent years, while the brand maintains a legacy presence, many of its regional subsidiaries have undergone restructuring, with IDT International remaining the ultimate owner.
