The brand's origin is rooted in the United Kingdom, where it was founded by industry veterans including James Cato. In December 2019, the company was acquired by Enad Global 7 (EG7), a Swedish video game holding group. This acquisition integrated Fireshine into a larger family of gaming companies, providing it with the financial backing and global infrastructure of a public holding company while allowing it to maintain its creative independence in the indie publishing space. As of 2025, the company continues to operate as a key subsidiary of EG7, led by CEO Brian Foote, focusing on expanding its portfolio for PC and console platforms.
