Kraš confectionery

Kraš is the leading confectionery manufacturer in Southeastern Europe, with a history dating back to 1911 in Zagreb, Croatia. The brand was formed from the merger of Union (founded in 1911 by Julije König and Slavoljub Deutsch) and Bizjak (founded in 1923), along with other smaller manufacturers. In 1950, it was named Kraš in honor of Josip Kraš, a national hero and trade unionist.

Today, the company operates high-tech production facilities for its three core categories: cocoa products, biscuits and wafers, and candies. While its main manufacturing hub is the Ravnice estate in Zagreb, Kraš also owns and operates specialized factories like Karolina in Osijek, Croatia, and Mira in Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The brand is famous for flagship products such as the Bajadera praline, Napolitanke wafers, and the Animal Kingdom (Životinsko Carstvo) chocolate bars.

Since 2019, the ultimate majority ownership of Kraš has shifted to Mesna Industrija Braća Pivac (Pivac Group), a major Croatian meat-processing company. Despite this ownership transition, Kraš continues to operate as a publicly traded joint-stock company on the Zagreb Stock Exchange, maintaining its status as a Croatian cultural and industrial icon.
