Philips televisions have a heritage dating back to 1891 in the Netherlands, founded by Frederik and Gerard Philips. While the brand remains an icon of Dutch innovation, the television division underwent a major strategic shift in the early 21st century. As Royal Philips transitioned its focus toward healthcare technology, it divested its consumer electronics operations.

Since 2012, Philips-branded TVs in Europe and much of the world have been developed and marketed by TP Vision, which started as a joint venture but became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Hong Kong-based electronics giant TPV Technology. For the European market, assembly is concentrated in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland, which houses one of the most advanced TV manufacturing plants on the continent. This facility allows for efficient distribution across the EU, although many components are sourced from TPV's industrial clusters in China.
