Open Mobile (PR Wireless, Inc.) was a prominent wireless telecommunications provider based in Puerto Rico. Founded in 2007, it emerged as a relaunch of the bankrupt NewComm Wireless Services (formerly Movistar). The brand primarily served the Puerto Rican market with prepaid wireless plans and no-contract mobile services, utilizing CDMA and later 4G LTE network technologies.
In 2017, Sprint Corporation entered into a joint venture with Open Mobile, eventually becoming the majority shareholder. Following the 2020 merger between Sprint and T-Mobile US, Open Mobile's operations were fully integrated into the T-Mobile brand infrastructure. By late 2018, most physical retail locations had transitioned to the Boost Mobile brand (which was later divested to DISH Network as part of the T-Mobile/Sprint merger requirements), while existing network customers were migrated to T-Mobile's national network. Consequently, T-Mobile US is the ultimate successor and owner of the legacy Open Mobile infrastructure and customer base.
