Roberts Radio is a storied British institution, founded in 1932 by Harry Roberts and Leslie Bidmead in London. Originally operating out of a small factory in Soho, the brand became synonymous with high-quality craftsmanship and portable audio, eventually earning Royal Warrants that it still holds as a supplier to the British Royal Family. The iconic 'Revival' aesthetic, seen in the iStream 3L model, was famously inspired by a handbag belonging to Harry Roberts' wife, Elsie, and remains the brand's most recognizable design.

While the brand maintains its creative heart and engineering base in Chertsey, Surrey, UK, production transitioned to East Asia following global industrial shifts. Most modern Roberts products, including the smart radio series, are designed and engineered in the UK but manufactured in China to leverage specialized electronics supply chains.

In 1994, the company was acquired by the GlenDimplex Group, a major Irish multinational based in Dublin. Under GlenDimplex ownership, Roberts has evolved from a traditional radio maker into a modern tech brand, integrating digital (DAB+), internet streaming, and Bluetooth capabilities into its vintage-inspired wooden cabinets.
