Litoral Beans with Chorizo

Litoral is a historic Spanish culinary brand, famously recognized for its authentic pre-packaged traditional dishes. Founded in 1942 in Gijón (Asturias) by the Liñero family, the company began as a fish cannery (hence the name 'Litoral', meaning coastal). By the 1950s, it shifted focus toward traditional inland dishes, with its canned 'Fabada Asturiana' (Asturian bean stew) becoming its most iconic product.

Over the decades, Litoral expanded its range to include various regional Spanish recipes like Cocido Madrileño and lentils. In 1976, it was briefly owned by the American company Carnation, which was subsequently acquired by Nestlé in 1985. Since then, Nestlé has maintained Litoral as a key brand in its Spanish portfolio, emphasizing traditional recipes and 'natural ingredients' through its marketing. The products continue to be primarily manufactured at its long-standing factory in Gijón, Asturias, Spain.
