Reiss is a prominent British fashion brand known for its "attainable luxury" positioning, specializing in modern tailoring and contemporary apparel. Founded in 1971 by David Reiss, the brand began as a menswear shop in London's Bishopsgate before expanding into womenswear in 2000 and childrenswear in 2021. Today, it is recognized globally for its refined aesthetic, often favored by the British royal family.
Manufacturing for Reiss products, including their shirts, occurs across a diverse global supply chain. While a significant portion of production is based in China, Turkey, and India, the brand also sources from factories in Vietnam, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Spain, Italy, and Portugal. This multi-country approach allows the brand to balance high-quality craftsmanship with scalable production.
Since 2021, the brand has undergone a significant ownership transition. British retail giant Next PLC slowly increased its stake in the business, moving from an initial 25% to becoming the majority owner. In late 2023, Next PLC acquired a further interest from private equity firm Warburg Pincus, bringing its total ownership to 72% of the Group. The remaining shares are held by the Reiss family (22%) and the company's management team (6%).
