Jaecoo is a specialized automotive brand launched in 2023 by the Chinese state-owned manufacturer Chery Automobile. The brand was specifically conceived as an export-focused entity to market rugged yet premium SUVs to international audiences, primarily in Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. Interestingly, the name is a portmanteau of the German word 'Jäger' (hunter) and the English word 'cool,' reflecting the brand's 'hunter-cool' identity aimed at outdoor adventure enthusiasts who also value modern technology and style.

While the brand's core engineering and design originate from its headquarters in Wuhu, China, the manufacturing footprint is global. Most Jaecoo vehicles are produced in Chery’s primary Chinese facilities in Wuhu and Dalian. However, to support local market entry and meet regional demand, the brand utilizes a growing network of assembly plants. This includes dedicated production lines in Malaysia (Shah Alam), Indonesia (Bekasi), and Iran (Savojbolagh), with further expansion planned as the brand scales its global presence.

Ownership of Jaecoo rests entirely with Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., which is one of China's most prolific automotive exporters. Within individual markets, Jaecoo often operates through specialized local divisions or distributor agreements, such as Jaecoo UK or Jaecoo Malaysia, typically sharing a dealer network with its sister brand, Omoda. Despite its young age, the brand leverages Chery’s decades of manufacturing experience and its longstanding partnerships with international luxury marques to position itself as a high-tech, capable alternative in the global SUV market.
