Skagen Denmark is a lifestyle brand famously recognized for its minimalist, Scandi-inspired aesthetic. Though the brand name is taken from a scenic Danish fishing village, the company was actually founded in the United States in 1989 by Henrik and Charlotte Jorst, Danish expats who sought to bring European design to the American market at an accessible price point.
While the brand emphasizes its Danish heritage and design philosophy, Skagen products have historically been manufactured in Asia, primarily in China and Hong Kong, to maintain their competitive pricing. In 2012, the brand was acquired by the Fossil Group, a global leader in the watch industry, which integrated Skagen into its extensive international supply chain.
Today, the brand's operations are overseen from the Fossil Group's headquarters in Texas. Skagen continues to expand its product lines from its iconic mesh-strap watches to include jewelry, leather handbags, and sustainable lifestyle accessories, all while maintaining the clean, functional design style that defined its origin.
