Fossify mobile apps

Fossify is a suite of privacy-focused, open-source mobile applications for Android, including a calendar, gallery, file manager, and contacts app. It was founded in late 2023 as a spiritual successor to the well-known 'Simple Mobile Tools' project.

The brand emerged after the original creator of Simple Mobile Tools sold the suite to a commercial entity, leading to concerns about the introduction of ads and trackers. In response, a former contributor and community members forked the original open-source code to preserve its ad-free and privacy-first nature.

Unlike traditional physical products, Fossify is a digital project maintained by a global community of developers. Its development is led by Naveen Singh, and the project is hosted on platforms like GitHub. It operates as a community-driven initiative without a single corporate headquarters, focusing on transparency and user-controlled data.
