O-Cedar is a storied brand in the cleaning industry, originally founded in 1906 by Charles A. Channell as the Channell Chemical Company in Chicago, Illinois. Initially specializing in wood polishes and waxes (named 'O-Cedar' because of the cedar oil used in its early formulas), the brand eventually expanded into mechanical cleaning tools like mops and brooms.

Over the decades, the brand underwent several ownership changes, being owned at various times by the Drackett Corporation, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and S.C. Johnson. In 2003, the mechanical cleaning division was acquired by the German-based Freudenberg Household Products (known for the Vileda brand). However, the chemical and wood-care division of O-Cedar in Europe followed a different path. In Spain, the brand is currently managed and marketed by Century Brands (formerly distributed through agreements with companies like Swania and KH Lloreda). While mechanical tools are often produced in the USA and Germany, chemical sprays like this furniture polish are manufactured in various European locations depending on the specific regional distributor and regional supply chain.
