Finish is a global leader in the dishwasher detergent and additive market. The brand was originally created in the United States in 1953 by the company Economics Laboratory, which is now known as Ecolab. It was developed to meet the specific needs of residential dishwashers, which were becoming more common at the time. In 1987, the consumer products division of Ecolab, including the Finish brand, was acquired by J.A. Benckiser.

Today, Finish is owned by Reckitt Benckiser (commonly known as Reckitt), a British multinational consumer goods company headquartered in Slough, England. Reckitt was formed in 1999 through the merger of the British company Reckitt & Colman and the Dutch/German company Benckiser.

Manufacturing of Finish products occurs in multiple locations internationally to service various regional markets. Major production facilities are located in Poland (specifically Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki) and Germany, which supply much of the European market, including Spain and Portugal as indicated by the bilingual packaging on the product shown.
