Van Lier is a venerable Dutch footwear brand with a history dating back to 1815, when the Van Lier family established a workshop in Loon op Zand, Netherlands. Originally performing every stage of production within the country, the brand evolved into an international name known for high-quality leather men's shoes, including classic dress shoes and contemporary sneakers.

Historically a family-owned enterprise managed by the Van Spaendonck family for decades, the brand underwent a significant transition in 2025. Following financial difficulties and the bankruptcy of several retail subsidiaries, the parent company VANLIER B.V. saw its ownership transferred. As of late 2025 and moving into 2026, the brand is owned by Fairmont Capital, an Amsterdam-based investment firm. While the brand remains deeply rooted in Dutch design and heritage, its manufacturing processes utilize global materials—such as leather sourced from France, Italy, and the United States—and production often takes place in various specialized facilities outside the Netherlands to maintain modern scale and technical precision.
