Samsung is a global leader in technology, originating as a small trading company founded by Lee Byung-chul in 1938 in Daegu, South Korea. Initially dealing in dried fish and noodles, it evolved into a massive 'chaebol' (family-controlled conglomerate) that now spans across electronics, shipbuilding, construction, and insurance. The brand is synonymous with innovation, particularly through its flagship subsidiary, Samsung Electronics, which is one of the world's largest manufacturers of smartphones, televisions, and semiconductors.

Today, Samsung's manufacturing network is truly global. While its headquarters and high-end R&D remain in South Korea, the majority of its production has shifted to hubs with specialized infrastructure. Vietnam is currently the primary manufacturing center for Samsung smartphones, accounting for a significant portion of its global output. India also hosts one of the world's largest mobile phone factories in Noida. Other manufacturing facilities are located in Brazil, Indonesia, and South Korea, while some budget-friendly models are produced through ODM partnerships in China.

The Samsung Group remains an independent entity, primarily controlled by the Lee family through a complex web of cross-ownership and publicly traded subsidiaries. This structure allows the family to maintain strategic oversight over its vast internal ecosystem, ensuring that the brand remains a dominant force in the global tech landscape well beyond 2026.
