Orion Kofila chocolate bar

Kofila is a legendary Czech chocolate bar that has been a staple of the Central European confectionery market for over a century. Launched in 1923 by the Orion chocolate factory in then-Czechoslovakia, it is celebrated for its unique combination of smooth milk chocolate and a rich coffee-flavored cream filling. The brand's iconic packaging, featuring a distinctive yellow background and an illustration of a figure enjoying coffee, was originally created by the avant-garde artist Zdeněk Rykr and has remained largely consistent, becoming a symbol of Czech design heritage.

Today, Kofila is manufactured at the Nestlé Zora plant in Olomouc, Czech Republic. The factory produces tens of millions of bars annually to meet demand in the Czech and Slovak markets, where it consistently ranks as one of the most popular candy bars. Over the years, the brand has introduced variations such as Kofila Latte and Kofila White, while maintaining the original recipe that has made it a favorite for generations.

Since 1992, the Orion brand—and with it, Kofila—has been under the ownership of the Swiss multinational Nestlé. This acquisition followed the privatization of the state-owned Czechoslovak chocolate industry after the Velvet Revolution. Under Nestlé's stewardship, Kofila has transitioned to using 100% sustainably sourced cocoa while preserving the cultural identity of what many consider to be the quintessential 'Czechoslovak' treat.
