The Cypressa story began in the 1950s when three brothers from the Katsouris family started selling olives and olive oil in Cyprus before later moving to London to establish their brand in 1964.

While the brand is headquartered and packed in the UK, the tahini itself is typically manufactured and stoneground in Greece using sesame seeds sourced from regions like Ethiopia and Sudan. This ensures the product maintains an authentic flavor profile characteristic of its Mediterranean origins.

In 2019, the parent company Katsouris Brothers Limited was acquired by Cranswick plc, a major British food producer. This acquisition allowed the brand to expand its reach while maintaining the family heritage and expertise in authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern foods.
