Storebox digital receipt service

Storebox is a leading digital receipt platform primarily operating in the Nordic region. Founded in 2012 by Danish entrepreneurs, the service aims to eliminate paper waste and simplify expense management by delivering digital receipts directly to a user's smartphone or digital post (such as e-Boks) following a credit card transaction.

Originally developed by a small tech team in Copenhagen, the company gained significant traction in the Danish retail market, partnering with major chains like Salling Group (Netto, Føtex, Bilka) and Matas. In December 2015, Storebox was acquired by the Nordic payment giant Nets (now part of Nexi Group), which integrated its infrastructure to provide a seamless link between payment terminals and digital receipt storage.

Today, Storebox remains an essential utility in Denmark and the wider Nordic area, functioning as a subsidiary within the Nexi Group's ecosystem. While the 'Storebox' name is also used by an unrelated Austrian self-storage company and a hardware storage module by Critical I/O, the consumer-facing app known throughout Northern Europe is focused on financial data digitization and personal finance management.
