Lucozade Energy Original soft drink

Lucozade is a distinguished British soft drink brand that was originally created in 1927 by William Walker Hunter, a pharmacist from Newcastle upon Tyne. Initially marketed as 'Glucozade' and designed as a medicinal tonic to aid recovery from illness, it was rebranded as Lucozade in 1929. The brand transitioned from a clinical product into a mainstream energy and sports drink in the 1980s, eventually becoming one of the most popular energy drink labels in the UK and Ireland.

Manufacturing for the British and Irish markets primarily takes place at the historic Coleford factory in Gloucestershire, England, which has been in operation since 1946. This site is one of Europe's largest soft drink production facilities. Ownership has shifted over the decades; after being held by the pharmaceutical giant Beecham (later GlaxoSmithKline) for 75 years, the brand was acquired in 2013 by the Japanese multinational Suntory. Today, it is managed under the Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I division, continuing its presence as a market leader in the energy beverage sector.
