Halloren Original Halloren O's (Halloren-Kugeln)

Halloren is the oldest continuously operating chocolate factory in Germany, with history dating back to 1804. Founded by Friedrich August Miethe as a honey cake bakery and chocolate factory in Halle (Saale), the company later gained fame under the name 'Friedrich David & Söhne' and eventually 'Mignon Schokoladenwerke AG'. During the GDR era, it operated as a state-owned enterprise (VEB), where its most iconic product, the 'Halloren-Kugeln' (named after the silver buttons on the festive dress of the local salt workers, the Halloren), was launched in 1952.

Following German reunification, the company was privatized and expanded through various acquisitions, including Confiserie Dreher and Steenland Chocolate. In late 2017, the company underwent a significant ownership shift when major shareholder Paul Morzynski sold his stake to Darren Ehlert and the Charlie Investors group. As of 2026, the company continues to focus on its regional heritage while modernizing its distribution as a private entity under the control of the Ehlert and Illmann families.
