Founded in 1948 by Henry Walker, a butcher from Leicester, England, Walkers was born out of post-war necessity when meat rationing prompted a pivot into potato crisp production. The brand quickly grew from a local favourite into a national icon, celebrated for its uniquely British flavours and long-standing association with spokesperson Gary Lineker since 1995.

Today, Walkers is the leading crisp manufacturer in Britain, operating the world's largest crisp production facility in Leicester. While it remains a quintessentially British brand in identity and production—sourcing the majority of its potatoes from British farms—the company has been under American ownership since 1989. Following its acquisition by PepsiCo, Walkers became a key part of the global Frito-Lay division, sharing its logo and many technological innovations with its international sibling, Lay's, while maintaining its distinct British branding and recipe legacy.
