Hama is a major German distributor and manufacturer of accessories for consumer electronics, photography, and telecommunications. The brand was originally founded in 1923 by photographer Martin Hanke in Dresden as 'Hamaphot KG,' specializing in photo chemicals and laboratory equipment. After the destruction of the original premises during World War II, the company was rebuilt in Monheim, Bavaria, in 1945, where its global headquarters remain today.
While the brand's heart and engineering expertise are rooted in Germany, manufacturing is primarily carried out in China and other Asian production hubs to maintain competitive pricing. Hama is a family-owned enterprise that transitioned into a foundation-based structure in 2015 to ensure long-term independence. It operates globally through numerous subsidiaries, including Hama EURL in France, serving as a leading value-added distributor in the European market.
