Ageas Insurance

Ageas is a prominent international insurance group with a history spanning over 200 years. Its origins are traced back to 1824 with the founding of Assurances Générales (now AG Insurance) in Belgium. The brand evolved through various mergers and acquisitions, most notably as part of the Fortis financial group established in 1990. Following the 2008 financial crisis and the subsequent restructuring and breakup of Fortis, the insurance activities were rebranded as Ageas in 2010.

Today, Ageas operates as a multinational entity with a significant presence in Europe and Asia. In Belgium, it is the market leader through AG Insurance. In the United Kingdom, it has expanded significantly, recently acquiring the personal lines insurer esure in 2025 to become one of the top personal lines insurers in the country. The company provides a wide range of services including life, motor, home, travel, and pet insurance. While it is headquartered in Brussels, its services and policies are generated and managed through various local subsidiaries and strategic partnerships across its global markets.
