Toblerone Crunchy Almonds chocolate bar

Toblerone is one of the world's most recognizable chocolate brands, famously invented in 1908 by Theodor Tobler and Emil Baumann in Bern, Switzerland. The brand's signature triangular shape is legendary, often associated with the Matterhorn mountain and known for its unique blend of milk chocolate, honey, and almond nougat. The 'Crunchy Almonds' variant, identified by its distinct blue packaging, adds salted caramelized almonds to the classic recipe.

Historically, Toblerone was produced exclusively in Switzerland for over a century. However, in 2022, parent company Mondelez International shifted part of its production to Bratislava, Slovakia, to meet global demand. Despite this footprint expansion, the firm recently invested over 65 million Swiss francs to upgrade its Bern facility, which remains the 'Center of Excellence' and produces approximately 90% of the brand's global volume as of 2026. Because of the partial move of production outside Switzerland, the packaging has evolved to comply with Swissness regulations, replacing the Matterhorn silhouette with a generic mountain logo for products made abroad.

Ownership of the brand has transitioned through several major entities. After decades as an independent company and subsequent mergers into Interfood and Jacobs Suchard, the brand was acquired by Kraft Foods in 1990. In 2012, following a corporate split, ownership transferred to Mondelez International, which remains the ultimate owner and global distributor of Toblerone today.
