HIFIMAN is a world-renowned manufacturer of high-end audio products, particularly famous for its planar magnetic headphones, amplifiers, and high-fidelity portable music players. The company was founded in late 2005 by Dr. Fang Bian while he was living in New York. Initially starting as 'Head-Direct,' the brand officially adopted the name HIFIMAN in 2007.

In the early 2010s, HIFIMAN transitioned its core operations to China to scale its manufacturing capabilities. Today, the brand's research and development as well as its primary manufacturing facilities are located in Tianjin and Kunshan, China. HIFIMAN is widely credited with revitalizing planar magnetic technology in the consumer market, moving from niche audiophile equipment to globally recognized premium consumer electronics.

The brand remains under the private ownership of its founder, Dr. Fang Bian, through the parent company HIFIMAN Technology Group Co., Ltd. While it maintains a strong corporate presence in China, it operates international marketing and service divisions in the USA, Europe, and Japan to serve its global customer base.
