Barilla Fusilli

Barilla Fusilli is a signature corkscrew-shaped pasta produced by the Barilla Group, the world's leading pasta manufacturer. The brand's history began in 1877 when Pietro Barilla Sr. opened a small bakery and pasta shop in Parma, Italy. Over more than 145 years, the company transitioned from a local family business into a global food giant, remaining privately held by the Barilla family except for a brief period in the 1970s when it was owned by the American firm W. R. Grace.

While Barilla is deeply rooted in Italian tradition and maintains its flagship plant in Pedrignano, Parma (the largest pasta factory in the world), its manufacturing footprint is global to meet international demand efficiently. In Europe, production is centered in Italy, Greece, and France. For the North American market, Barilla operates major production facilities in Ames, Iowa, and Avon, New York, as well as plants in Canada and Mexico. The specific origin of a box of Barilla Fusilli can usually be identified by a letter code on the packaging, where products made in Italy are explicitly labeled with 'Product of Italy'.

Today, the Barilla Group is chaired by the fourth generation of the family—brothers Guido, Luca, and Paolo Barilla. The company has expanded beyond pasta into sauces and bakery products, acquiring several international brands such as Wasa, Catelli, and Pasta Evangelists, reinforcing its position as a global leader in the Mediterranean food sector.
