Maryland Minis Choc Chip cookies

Maryland Cookies reach back to 1956 when they were first launched by J. Lyons & Co. in Blackpool, United Kingdom. Despite the name referencing the U.S. state of Maryland, the product is quintessentially British and was inspired by American-style chocolate chip cookies adapted for the UK market.

Over the decades, the brand transitioned through several owners, including Hillsdown Holdings and Hicks Muse Tate & Furst, eventually becoming part of the Burton's Biscuit Company portfolio. In 2021, Burton's was acquired by a Ferrero-affiliated company (part of the Ferrero Group), bringing Maryland into the same global family as Nutella and Kinder.

Today, Maryland is recognized as one of the UK’s best-selling cookie brands. Manufacturing remains centered in the United Kingdom, primarily at the historic Blackpool factory in Lancashire and the Llantarnam facility in South Wales. The product is currently managed under the Fox's Burton’s Companies (FBC) UK division.
