Oregon Bio Chain Oil is a high-performance biodegradable lubricant designed for chainsaw guide bars and chains. The brand traces its roots back to 1947 when Joseph Buford Cox founded the Oregon Saw Chain Company in Portland, Oregon, USA, after being inspired by the efficiency of timber beetle larvae. This innovation led to the modern saw chain design used globally today.

While the company is headquartered in the United States, it maintains a vast global footprint. Manufacturing occurs across multiple countries, including the USA, Canada, Brazil, China, and France, with distribution centers located in Germany (Backnang) and Belgium. The parent company, formerly known as Blount International, rebranded to Oregon Tool, Inc. in 2021 to honor its heritage. Since late 2021, Oregon Tool has been owned by Platinum Equity, a global private equity firm. The 'Bio' variant of the oil is particularly popular in Europe due to its compliance with environmental standards like the EU Ecolabel and the German Blue Angel.
