The 'Idea' brand, encompassing the IdeaPad laptops and IdeaCentre desktops, was launched by Lenovo in January 2008. Designed as a consumer-centric counterpart to the business-oriented ThinkPad line, the Idea series focuses on style, entertainment, and innovative features such as facial recognition and high-quality audio systems.
Lenovo maintains a highly Diversified global manufacturing footprint. While a significant portion of Idea-branded computers are assembled in China—specifically in massive hubs like Hefei and Wuhan—the company also operates manufacturing and assembly plants in India, Mexico, Brazil, and Germany to serve local markets and optimize supply chain efficiency. This decentralized approach allows Lenovo to mitigate logistics risks and cater to regional consumer demands effectively.
Originally founded in 1984 as 'Legend' in Beijing, China, the company underwent a major transformation in 2005 when it acquired IBM's Personal Computing Division. Today, the brand is owned by Lenovo Group Limited, a multinational technology giant headquartered in Beijing (Global Headquarters) and Morrisville, North Carolina (Operational Headquarters). Lenovo remains the world's largest PC vendor, consistently leading the market through continuous investment in AI-integrated devices and sustainable manufacturing practices.
