Established in 1998 in Suzhou, China, by Qian Dongqi, the company initially operated as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for vacuum cleaners under the name TEK Electrical Company. In 2006, it pivoted to focus on autonomous home service robots, rebranding as Ecovacs Robotics.

As of 2026, the founding Qian family continues to hold a dominant leadership and shareholding position, with David Cheng Qian serving as a key executive overseeing the company's strategic expansion into 'full-scenario' robotics, including lawn mowers (GOAT series), window cleaners (WINBOT), and robotic pool cleaners (ULTRAMARINE).
