The Iglo brand itself was originally launched by Unilever in Belgium in 1956 and expanded across continental Europe shortly after.

In 2015, the brand was acquired by Nomad Foods, a British-headquartered company that has since become the largest frozen food manufacturer in Europe. While the brand has British-American corporate roots through its parent company, the products are manufactured in various facilities across Europe, including Germany and Italy, to serve the diverse European market.
