Bell Tea is one of New Zealand's most storied and iconic beverage brands, established in 1898 by Norman Harper Bell in Dunedin. For over a century, it has been a staple in Kiwi households, recognized as the country's oldest tea manufacturer. The brand's products, including its signature 'Original' black tea blend, are known for their consistent taste, which is specifically tailored to the New Zealand palate.

While the brand is deeply rooted in New Zealand heritage, its production process is a global effort. The raw tea leaves, fruits, and herbs are ethically sourced from premium growing regions across the world, including Kenya, Sri Lanka, and India. These ingredients are then traditionally blended and packaged at facilities in Auckland, New Zealand.

Ownership of the brand has evolved over time; after being owned by the supermarket cooperative Foodstuffs for over 50 years and briefly by Pencarrow Private Equity, the brand (as part of the BrewGroup) was acquired in 2017 by Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE), a major global coffee and tea company headquartered in the Netherlands. Today, it remains a dominant player in the New Zealand tea market under the management of Jacobs Douwe Egberts NZ.
