The history of these springs dates back to the late 18th century, with official descriptions recording the curative properties of the Zizin waters as early as 1773. The modern bottling operation began in the late 20th century, and the brand is recognized for introducing the 5-liter PET format to the Romanian market in 1998.

The brand is owned and operated by Apemin Zizin SA, a company with 100% Romanian private capital. Since 1997, the company has been controlled by the Lazăr family, who have overseen significant modernizations of the production facilities. All Zizin products are manufactured in Romania, specifically at the factory located in Tărlungeni, Brașov County, near the primary water sources. The brand remains an independent, family-owned entity in the competitive Romanian beverage market.
