R.M.Williams is an iconic Australian brand known for its handcrafted leather Chelsea boots, specifically the Craftsman model. Founded in 1932 by Reginald Murray Williams, the company established its reputation by creating durable, high-quality footwear and leather goods designed for the harsh conditions of the Australian outback. The brand remains deeply rooted in its heritage, with its primary manufacturing facility still operating in Salisbury, Adelaide.
Over the decades, the brand's ownership has transitioned through several hands. In 2020, Tattarang, the private investment group owned by Andrew and Nicola Forrest, acquired R.M.Williams from the LVMH-aligned private equity firm L Catterton. This acquisition returned the brand to full Australian ownership. Today, while most of the core leather boot lines are produced in Australia, some clothing and accessories are manufactured internationally.
