Brand Origin and History

Daloon is a celebrated Danish brand that has become synonymous with spring rolls across Europe. The brand was founded in 1960 by Van Quoc Yee in Nyborg, Denmark. Yee, a Chinese immigrant, introduced the spring roll to the Danish palate, originally naming his company 'Danish Dragon Food'. The name 'Daloon' was adopted shortly after, meaning 'Great Dragon' in Chinese, symbolizing the fusion of Asian cuisine with Danish production quality.

Manufacturing and Product Range

For decades, Daloon's primary manufacturing hub has been located in Nyborg, Denmark. The facility produces a wide variety of frozen products, including their signature spring rolls, samosas, and meat-free alternatives. While the brand expanded its presence to the UK with a production site in Newark for some time, the core of its operations and authentic recipes remain rooted in its Danish heritage.

Evolution of Ownership

After being a family-owned business for over 50 years, Daloon was acquired in 2015 by the Dutch food group, GoodLife Foods (formerly known as Izico Food Group). This acquisition positioned Daloon as part of a major European player in the frozen snack segment. As of 2026, GoodLife Foods continues to own and manage the brand, maintaining its heritage while integrating it into a broad international portfolio of snack brands owned by private equity firms.
