Kerrygold extra Butter & Rapeseed Oil

Kerrygold is a world-renowned brand synonymous with Irish dairy heritage. Originally launched in 1962 by the Ornua Co-operative Limited (formerly known as the Irish Dairy Board), the brand was created to market Irish butter internationally, specifically highlighting the rich taste derived from grass-fed cows.

While the butter itself is made from Irish cream, specialized products like 'Kerrygold extra' (a blend of butter and rapeseed oil) are often packaged and processed in Germany for the European mainland market. This allows for the addition of non-Irish ingredients like rapeseed oil while maintaining the core Irish dairy identity.

Today, Kerrygold remains owned by Ornua, an Irish agricultural cooperative that represents the majority of Ireland’s dairy processors and farmers. It is Ireland's first billion-euro food brand and continues to be headquartered in Dublin, operating as a central pillar of the Irish agri-food industry.
