Sunshine Conversations (formerly Smooch)

Sunshine Conversations, originally known as Smooch, is a prominent omnichannel messaging platform that allows businesses to aggregate and manage customer communications across various channels like WhatsApp, SMS, and Facebook Messenger. The brand was founded in Montreal, Canada, in 2015 by the team behind the messaging middleware company Smooch.io.

Following its rapid growth and success in the developer community, Smooch was acquired in May 2019 by Zendesk, a global leader in customer service software. After the acquisition, the product was rebranded as Sunshine Conversations to align with Zendesk's CRM platform, although the name Smooch still frequently appears in developer documentation and legacy integrations. Today, it serves as a core infrastructure component for Zendesk’s enterprise messaging solutions, with development and operations primarily managed from Zendesk’s headquarters in the United States and its engineering hubs in Canada.
