Svenska Postkodlotteriet (Swedish Postcode Lottery)

Svenska Postkodlotteriet was launched in Sweden in 2005. It is a subscription-based lottery where participants win based on their postal code and house number. The concept was originally developed in the Netherlands under the 'Postcode Lottery' brand to generate significant funds for charitable causes and civil society organizations.

The lottery is operated by Novamedia Sverige AB on behalf of the Swedish Postcode Lottery Association. Under this model, approximately 40% of the revenue is returned to players as prizes, while the entire surplus (after operational costs) is donated to over 60 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) focused on human rights, nature conservation, and animal welfare. It has become one of Sweden's largest private donors to the nonprofit sector.

The ultimate owner, Novamedia B.V., is a Dutch social enterprise that operates similar lottery concepts in the Netherlands, Great Britain, Germany, and Norway. The brand is deeply integrated into Swedish culture through its long-running television programs, including 'Postkodmiljonären'.
