STIGA garden machinery

Founded in 1934 in Sweden by Stig Hjelmquist, STIGA originally gained fame for table tennis equipment before expanding into the garden machinery market in the 1950s. Over the decades, STIGA evolved from a Swedish household name into a pan-European powerhouse through strategic mergers and acquisitions.

In 2000, STIGA merged with the Italian company Castelgarden and the British firm Mountfield to form Global Garden Products (GGP). This transition shifted the brand's operational focus to Italy. Today, STIGA S.p.A. is headquartered in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy, and operates as a prominent manufacturer of outdoor power equipment.

The global ownership of the brand has been managed through private equity firms. Following a major restructuring around 2017-2018, the group was rebranded from GGP to STIGA Group. It is currently owned by several international investors, with Kartesia and Swedia Capital typically identified as major equity holders, maintaining the company's status as a leading European player in the gardening sector.
