While the brand's roots are firmly planted in Swedish culinary inspiration, its commercial journey began in the United Kingdom. Peter's Yard was founded by Ian Tencencer and Wendy Wilson-Bett, who launched the brand in 2008 with the help of Swedish baker Peter Ljungquist. Today, the production and operations are centered in the UK, where it has grown from an artisan startup to a leading name in the gourmet food sector.

In early 2022, Peter's Yard was acquired by Shipton Mill, a long-standing partner and independent specialist flour miller. This acquisition ensured that the brand remains under British ownership while maintaining its commitment to traditional baking methods and high-quality ingredients. Shipton Mill’s stewardship focuses on preserving the brand's artisan integrity while expanding its distribution across international markets.
