3x1 Jeans

3x1 (pronounced 'Three by One') is a luxury denim brand that originated in New York City's SoHo district. Founded in 2011 by denim pioneer Scott Morrison—who previously launched Paper Denim & Cloth and Earnest Sewn—the brand was initially famous for its glass-enclosed 'atelier' on Mercer Street, where customers could watch their bespoke jeans being handcrafted. The name itself refers to denim's standard weaving construction, the 3x1 Right Hand Twill.

Following a period of restructuring and its acquisition in 2021 by the Italian fashion group Instyle Group, the brand's operations underwent a significant transition. While it maintains its '3x1 NYC' branding as a tribute to its Manhattan roots, the entire manufacturing process has been relocated to Italy. Today, the products are handcrafted in Italian facilities using premium fabrics, such as those from the renowned Candiani Denim mill, blending New York's gritty aesthetic with high-end Italian craftsmanship and sustainable production methods.
