The brand was founded in Salem, Oregon, in 1978 by Cameron Healy under the name 'NSL Foods' (short for Naturally Swedish Ltd.). It pioneered the natural snack food market by focusing on high-quality, non-GMO ingredients and traditional kettle-processing methods that produce a signature crunch.

Over the decades, the brand expanded its footprint significantly, opening a production facility in Norwich, UK, in 1988 to serve the European market. Following several ownership transitions, including a period under Diamond Foods, the brand was acquired by Campbell Soup Company in 2018 as part of the acquisition of Snyder's-Lance. Today, Kettle Brand remains a dominant force in the premium snack category, manufactured in multiple dedicated facilities across the United States and the United Kingdom to maintain local supply chains and freshness.
