Tefal is a globally recognized French brand that revolutionized the culinary world in 1954 when its founder, Marc Grégoire, invented the first non-stick frying pan. The name is a portmanteau of the words 'Teflon' and 'Aluminium,' reflecting the materials that defined its early success. Based in Rumilly, France, the company remains a symbol of French manufacturing excellence, with roughly 80% of its products sold in its home market still produced at its historic Haute-Savoie facility.

Since 1968, Tefal has been a flagship brand of Groupe SEB, a French multinational and the world leader in small domestic equipment. While premium cookware continues to be manufactured in France, the brand has expanded its production footprint to include facilities in China and Vietnam to meet global demand for both cookware and small electrical appliances like air fryers and steam irons. In North America and Japan, the brand is marketed as T-fal to avoid trademark conflicts with DuPont's Teflon brand.
