Becel is a well-known brand of margarine and health-focused food products. The name is derived from the acronym B.C.L. (Blood Cholesterol Lowering), highlighting its original purpose as a heart-healthy alternative to butter. Originally developed by researchers at Unilever in the Netherlands during the 1960s, the brand became a global leader in the spreadable fats market.

Historically part of Unilever's massive food portfolio, the brand (along with the rest of the spreads category) was sold in 2017 to KKR, an American private equity firm. The spreads business was then rebranded as Upfield. Today, Upfield operates as the ultimate owner, managing the production and distribution of Becel across international markets from its headquarters in Amsterdam. While production is centered in the Netherlands for many European markets, the company maintains regional manufacturing facilities globally to support its supply chain.
