Ris rice

RIS is a general Danish and Scandinavian term for rice, but in a retail context, it often refers to house-brand or basic packaging of various rice varieties such as jasmine, basmati, or porridge rice. Because 'Ris' is simply the Danish word for rice, many different manufacturers and supermarket chains (such as Salling Group or Coop) produce their own versions.

The origin of the rice depends entirely on the variety; jasmine rice is primarily imported from Thailand or Vietnam, while basmati typically comes from India or Pakistan. Rice for porridge (grødris) is often sourced from Italy or Spain. These products are distributed locally through major retail networks, maintaining a focus on being a staple pantry essential.
