Osprey Outdoor Gear

Founded in 1974 by Mike Pfotenhauer in Santa Cruz, California, Osprey began as a small business creating custom-fit backpacks for mountaineers. The brand became synonymous with innovation in carry systems, introducing the first breathable mesh backpanel and advancing ergonomics for long-distance hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. Over the decades, Osprey expanded its operations globally, eventually shifting much of its manufacturing to Vietnam where it maintains a dedicated quality control and design presence.

In late 2021, the brand entered a new chapter when it was acquired by Helen of Troy Limited. This acquisition integrated Osprey into a diverse portfolio of consumer brands, providing the resources to expand its reach in the global outdoor and travel markets. Today, Osprey remains a leader in the technical pack industry, known for its 'All Mighty Guarantee' which promises to repair or replace products over their lifetime.
