STAEDTLER FIMO modeling clay

FIMO is one of the world's most recognized brands of oven-hardening modeling clay. Originally developed in Germany, it became a global standard for artists, hobbyists, and professional makers due to its ability to retain fine details and harden into a durable, plastic-like finished product after being baked in a domestic oven.

The history of FIMO dates back to the late 1930s when it was first conceptualized by the German dollmaker Käthe Kruse and later refined by her daughter, Eberhardine 'Fifi' Rehbinder. The brand name itself is a contraction of 'Fifi's Modeling' clay. The product was eventually sold to the Eberhard Faber company in the 1960s and later became a core part of the STAEDTLER group. Today, FIMO is manufactured primarily in Germany, maintaining high quality-control standards for a wide range of product lines, including Professional, Soft, Effect, and Kids variants.

Since 1978, the brand has been under the ownership of STAEDTLER Mars GmbH & Co. KG. Based in Nuremberg, Germany, STAEDTLER is one of the oldest industrial companies in the country and a leader in writing and drawing instruments. The ultimate ownership structure remains rooted in the Staedtler Foundation, ensuring that the brand preserves its long-standing German manufacturing heritage while distributing its products to over 150 countries worldwide.
