Stella McCartney is a pioneering luxury fashion house founded in 2001 by the British designer of the same name. From its inception, the brand established a revolutionary identity by committing to animal-free materials, such as vegan leather and cruelty-free alternatives, avoiding the use of fur, skin, or feathers. This stance has positioned the brand as a global leader in sustainable luxury.
While the brand was originally launched in a joint venture with the Gucci Group (later Kering), Stella McCartney reclaimed full ownership of her namesake label in 2018. Shortly thereafter, in 2019, she entered into a strategic partnership with the French luxury conglomerate LVMH to accelerate global expansion while retaining majority control and serving as a key advisor on sustainability to the LVMH group.
Today, the brand's manufacturing is centered in Italy for its craftsmanship-intensive luxury goods, with various other products sourced from European countries like Spain (eyewear and accessories) and Portugal (textiles). The brand continues to influence the global fashion industry through innovation, including the development of lab-grown materials and regenerative agriculture-based textiles.
