Mentos Mint

Mentos is a globally recognized brand of pre-packaged scotch mints and chewing gums. The product was originally created in the Netherlands during the 1930s by the van Melle brothers, Michael and Pierre, who envisioned a peppermint-flavored caramel candy. Over the decades, the brand expanded its flavor profile and became famous for its iconic cylindrical roll packaging and its 'Freshmaker' advertising campaigns.

Today, Mentos is manufactured in numerous locations worldwide to meet global demand, with primary production facilities located in the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Brazil, and China. The brand maintains a massive global footprint, being sold in over 150 countries.

Ownership of the brand rests with Perfetti Van Melle, a massive confectionery conglomerate formed in 2001 after the Italian group Perfetti acquired the Dutch company Van Melle. As of 2026, the company remains one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of confectionery and chewing gum, headquartered across dual bases in Italy and the Netherlands.
