Cacaolat chocolate milk

Cacaolat is an iconic Spanish brand known for producing the world's first industrially manufactured cocoa milkshake. Founded in 1933 in Barcelona by Joan Viader Roger, the recipe was inspired by a traditional drink he encountered in Hungary. The brand is deeply rooted in Catalan culture and is recognized by its signature yellow packaging and the 'Pepi' logo—a boy carrying a giant bottle on his back.

Throughout its history, the brand has navigated various ownership changes. After being part of the Letona group and later the Rumasa conglomerate, it faced financial instability in the early 2010s. In 2012, a joint venture between the Damm brewery and the Cobega group (heavily involved with Coca-Cola Europacific Partners) rescued the brand. As of 2024, the Idilia Foods group (owners of ColaCao and Nocilla) reached an agreement to acquire a controlling stake, consolidating Spanish cocoa market leadership. The product is primarily manufactured in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Barcelona.
